ZEYNAB JALALIAN’ S EXECUTION SENTENCE IS BEEN CONFIRMED:

Ms. Zeinab Jalalian, a 27 years old member of a Kurdish party (PKK), has received the death sentence based on allegations of “Apostasy” and being a member of Kurdish group “PKK”.

She was arrested in Kermanshah city, Iran by security forces and transferred to Sepah Pasdaran’s (Guardians of the Revolution) intelligence office. Revolution court in Kermanshah city conducted a brief trial, lasting only a few minutes. Based on her membership of a Kurdistan political party she was accused of Fighting God and was given the death penalty.
She ran away from home at 10, as her family did not agree with her going to school and so it was that he joined PKK. She has never used a gun.

Ms. Jalalian, who is 27 – as was Ehsan – is a political activist from Maku (in Western Azarbajian of Iran province), has been held at the Sanandaj prison for the past eight months. In her legal file, there is no mention of engaging in violent opposition. Her death sentence is based solely on allegations that include membership in, promotion of, and recruitment for an opposition party .

Her death sentence was announced while there continues to be significant obscurity regarding the circumstances that led to her arrest, the court proceedings of her case, and her lack of access to legal counsel during her few-minute long court appearance.

The Human Rights Activists maintain that the legal process that led to the death sentence of Ms. Jallian has been ill defined and illegitimate and, accordingly, protest the current sentence and request transparency and re-examination of her file from the Judicial Branch.
The Human Rights Activists’ intent is promotion of lasting security in the province of Kurdistan. It firmly believes that suppression of political and civil Kurdish activists that has led to 13 convictions and serial executions in the region will not yield lasting security.
